Botox for Bottoming

Botox allows for the relaxation of the internal sphincter muscles. This relaxation can help reduce pain and fissures and allow for easier dilation during anoreceptive intercourse. This is a simple office-based procedure that does not require anesthesia. It takes about 1–2 weeks for the Botox to fully take effect. Botox lasts about 3–4 months and is a safe procedure with rare risks. Risks include the inability to control the passage of gas, pain from the injections, bleeding, infection at the injection site, and fecal incontinence.
